The distinguished Iditarod Pullover features unexpected, elegant cables on the front and back that are balanced by simple stockinette-stitch sleeves and a ribbed turtleneck. The body and sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up; the sleeve caps are worked flat and then seamed.

Yarn 

Approximately 1150 (1220, 1345, 1450, 1615) yds/1051 (1115, 1230, 1325, 1477) m of worsted weight yarn.
Imperial Yarn Columbia (100% wool; 170 yds/155 m in 4 oz/113 gr): Cocoa Heather, 7 (8, 8, 9, 10) skeins.

 

Needles 

Size US 6/4 mm: 32”/80 cm and 16”/40 cm circular; set of double-pointed.
Size US 8/5 mm: 32”/80 cm circular and set of double-pointed.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.

 

Notions 

Stitch markers, 2 cable needles, size G/4 mm crochet hook, spare size US 6/4 mm circular needle, stitch holders, tapestry needle.

 

Gauge 

15 stitches and 24 rounds = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette Stitch on size US 8/5 mm needle, after blocking.
22 stitches and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in cable pattern on size US 8/5 mm needle, after blocking.

Notes 

- The body of this pullover is worked in the round to the underarm, then the upper front and back are worked separately back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up, with the sleeve cap worked back and forth in rows.
