This design, Carrillo Hat I named after Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park in my neighborhood, which I adore.



Finished measurements 
18”/46 cm brim circumference. 
9”/23 cm height from base of ribbing to top-center of crown. 
Measurements are taken after blocking. 
Fits average adult head sizes 20-22”/51-56 cm.


Approximately 170 yds/159 m of Aran weight yarn. 
2 balls of Katia Merino Sport (100% Virgin Wool, 87 yds/80 m in 50 gr)


Size US 6/4 mm and size US 8/5 mm circular needles 16”/40 cm long, or size to obtain gauge. 
Optional: second Size US 6/4 mm circular needles 16”/40 cm long. 
One set of double-pointed needles size US 8/5 mm.


Additional tools 
Stitch markers, waste yarn, crochet hook size G/4 mm for Provisional Cast On, 2 cable needles, tapestry needle.


20 stitches and 28 rounds = 4”/10 cm on size US 8/5 mm needles in Cable pattern after blocking.


• Hat is worked from brim to crown in the round.

Difficulty: Intermediate.

Pattern Style: Both written and charted instructions using common knitting abbreviations. Cable pattern is both charted and written.
