Introducing the Varya Hat, a practical blend of stitches creating a dynamic pattern. Inspired by the simplicity of Xs and Os, this hat features an all-over design that is both classic and visually engaging. The cables form a structured pattern, offering a textured look that adds interest to the overall design.

Finished Measurements

17”/42.5 cm brim circumference.

8”/20 cm height from base of ribbing to top center of crown.

Measurements are taken after blocking.

Fits average adult head sizes 20-21”/51-53 cm.



Approximately 155 yards/141 m of worsted weight yarn.

1 skein of The Plucky Knitter Trusty Worsted (100% Merino; 250 yards/228 m in 115 gr): color Fine Tooth Comb.



Size US 8/5 mm circular 16”/40 cm and set of double-pointed.

Size US 7/4.5 mm: 16”/40 cm circular.

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.



Stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle, crochet hook size 7 (optional).



26 stitches and 29 rounds = 4”/10 cm on size US 8/5 mm needles in Cable Chart after blocking.

Construction Notes

  • This hat is worked from brim to crown in the round.

  • All rounds on the chart are read from right to left.

  • Knitters may consider placing markers between the chart repetitions.
